Paris Photo is the annual party of photography
From 15 to 18 November, Paris Photo again is the annual party of photography. The beautifully light Grand Palais in Paris is just like last year expected to host more than 50,000 visitors, who come to visit 128 galleries and 23 book publishers, the international top in the world of art photography.
Paris Photo began in 1996, was an instant success and in the following years only continued to grow. Moreover, there are more and more activities in the French capital that rely on the event: the alternative bookfair OffPrint, the alternative gallery exhibition Nofound and many others, such as the special edition of the DDK- Paris edition at the Institut Néerlandais (an initiative of Picturae, the Dutch Photographers Federation and website PhotoQ). DDK- Paris edition is part of the three-day event Picturae's Paris Photo.
Advice for the visitor: go early to the Grand Palais, that opens to the public at noon. The later the afternoon, the longer the rows. last year it could take well over two hours for visitors to settle the long queues before reaching the entrance.
As if a trade show like Paris Photo is not enough, Paris is celebrating the Mois de la Photo during the entire month of November, with exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the city, and initiated by the Musée Européenne de la Photographie (www.mep-fr.org).
