Since the website was launched in March 2009, more than ten million people all over the world have attempted to trace their ancestors. What makes this unique and successful project so valuable from a genealogical point of view are the digital synchronisation of almost all Frisian municipal archives and its integral search options.
The success of the site is partly due to the fact that Picturae developed and produced 'AlleFriezen' as a comprehensive concept, in which images are digitised, a website created and digital documents saved for the next decade via our hosting services. Customers can pay for the hosting in a lump sum or in annual instalments, as convenient. From the moment of commissioning the system to the completion of the database, the municipal archives haven't had to worry about a thing. Project control and coordination lie entirely in the hands of a project group whose members are the participants' representatives and include Tresoar, the Leeuwarden Historic Centre and the Provincial Archives Inspectorate.
