From June 20 to 25 the annual SPNHC conference was held in Berlin. Picturae was for the first time present at the conference for natural history collection holders.
The conference, under the heading "Green Museum – How to practice what we preach?" offered a broad program full of presentations, meetings, special interest groups, workshops, field trips and social events. We were very proud that a couple of projects were we contributed to where part of the program: Sarah Philips presented the Lessons learnt from a herbarium specimen mass digitisation project, in which our conveyor belt system and our transcription team was used. The Botanic Garden Meise was present with a poster presentation about their DOE! Mass digitisation of the BR Herbarium at Botanic Garden Meise and so was Naturalis with a poster presentation about their crowdsourcing project :Clear as glass: digitizing 100,000 glass slides from the Naturalis collection using an online crowdsourcing platform".
The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) aims to improve the preservation, conservation and management of natural history collections. The 31st annual meeting was hosted by the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and the Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin.
