Training & Courses

Picturae products are designed to be convenient to use. In order to make the application and use of our software as easy as possible for National Heritage Institutes we offer various training and courses. These modules will quickly provide you with the relevant knowledge and information to be able to display your collection to the world.

Memorix Maior Introductory Course

This elementary course is meant for National Heritage Institutions that do not yet use Memorix Maior, our program for making collections publically accessible, but are keen to know how it works.  The course is also suitable for institutions already making the transition from Memorix 2.0 to Maior. Among the topics extensively dealt with are the differences between Maior and the previous version. Each National Heritage Institution has the opportunity to configure the module according to their specific requirements.

Memorix Maior

The Memorix Maior course has a basic component and a customised component. The basic Memorix course is for National Heritage Institutions whose objective is to learn how to operate the management system within half a day. The basic applications of Memorix Maior are relevant to all institutions, but specific applications can vary from organisation to organisation. Each course is customised to meet individual requirements, for this reason we dedicate time to fully understand each client's needs before the course begins, discussing, for example, whether image collections, genealogical collections and / or collection management need to be addressed in detail.

Memorix Maior Manual

Image collections

The Image Collections Module is particularly of interest to those in charge of image, museum or library collections and focuses primarily on how image collections may be made accessible using Memorix Maior. We will discuss the possibilities available for the display of photograph collections, videos and maps. An explanation of the DAM system will be given, as well as how to obtain copyrights for images and use thesauri.

Genealogical collections

This module is primarily meant for managers of genealogical collections. Among the topics explained in detail is the management of the digitisation of registry records, and how to effectively and efficiently describe records and deeds.

The Management Module is of interest to collection supervisors, application controllers and voluntary worker coordinators. The topics discussed in this module include: how to manage value lists, the web store, granting user rights and how to manage scrolls.

Picturae provides websites that are easy to use. Operating a CMS therefore requires no specific technical knowledge. Should you nevertheless need additional explanation on the use of the CMS, we can prepare a customised course for you during which all of your questions will be answered.

Practical issues

The minimum number of participants for a basic course is 4. Sadly, we shall be forced to cancel any courses for which less than 4 people have applied. The maximum number of participants per course is 9.

All standard courses are given at our training facilities in Heiloo and include lunch and, if required, a guided tour. If necessary or more convenient, we can organise training on location, subject to a number of conditions that we'll be more than happy to discuss with you.
