Get to Know Bo Schoonhoven

Bo Schoonhoven is the Head of Project Management at Picturae. She provides direction to our Project Managers and has been part of our team for many years. Bo shares, “I started as a scan operator in Heiloo when I was 16 years old. I enjoyed the work from the beginning and continued working at Picturae alongside my studies for many years. I also worked as a quality controller for some time, and soon transitioned into the role of a Project Manager. I managed various projects, including herbarium projects, Metamorfoze projects, data entry projects, and also conducted on-site projects. One of the on-site projects took me to Paris for three months, which was an amazing experience. I took a year off during my studies for an internship, but I quickly returned to Picturae. I resumed where I left off, worked on a digitization project in London (at the National Army Museum), and eventually even completed my graduation project at Picturae.

I enjoyed working in project management for about eight years, and when the position of Head of Project Management became available, I went for it. My current role is very diverse; I’m less involved in execution and my work presents me with challenges. My workday varies greatly; one week I’m mostly in the office, and the next I have many client visits in the Netherlands or abroad. I oversee all projects from digitization to financial status and, in addition to collaborating with all internal departments, such as the sales team, I also have a lot of external client contact. The best part remains working with my team. Our Project Managers are handling various projects simultaneously, each with their own expertise, and they collaborate extensively with the sales and digitization teams. My challenge lies in how I can help them with challenging issues within projects and elevate them to a higher level. Human interaction is also very important to me.
