Picturae's First Project in Italy

A Prestigious Project

Recently, Picturae launched a new initiative in Italy: the digitization of the Italian Central Herbarium housed at the University of Florence. Over the next 1.5 years, Picturae plans to digitize approximately 4.25 million herbarium specimens from this collection.

A press conference held at the University of Florence drew the attention of 15 journalists. Key figures such as Luigi Fiorentino (President of the National Biodiversity Center), Stefano Cannicci (representing the Rector of the University of Florence), Elena Canadelli (leading the digitization efforts at the University of Padua), and Alessio Papini (a Professor at the Biology Department of the University of Florence) emphasized the significance of this groundbreaking project in Italy. Digitizing the Italian Central Herbarium marks a significant leap forward in Italian scientific research. The University of Padua coordinates this project on behalf of the NBFC.

We extend our gratitude to the University of Florence, the University of Padua, and the Italian National Herbarium for their confidence in Picturae!
