Digitizing recto verso

A common industry consideration is whether we can digitize the front and back of certain materials at a high speed and with high resolution. We reworked design principles from our herbarium conveyor to rise to this challenge. A new conveyor system was created that would gently flip the material over. Both recto and verso are captured separately, resulting in easily accessible, consecutive image files. The system also checks and validates the images for quality immediately after capture. The solution we’ve developed can be used for all collections that contain loose-leaf, typed materials or a mixture of text and image.
