The archives of our Flemish neighbors are rich with image and sound materials. VIAA, The Flemish Institute for Archiving, is tasked with preserving as much audiovisual material from Flanders as possible. Digitization assignments are carried out sustainably, so that future generations can look back on the past with pride.

Providing future generations with sustained access to historical audiovisual material
In 2012, international experts predicted that in 10 to 15 years most of the magnetic audio and video players would no longer be functional. Valuable cultural heritage is in danger of disappearing if we do not intervene. And quickly. This was VIAA’s motivation to take action, and to preserve their historical materials in a sustainable way.
