Bound

Transmissive

Transparent formats: from plastic to glass, slides to film, and big to small. We consider the organization and condition of the material before every digitization assignment to develop tailor-made solutions to ensure the highest quality standards for precious collections.

Unbound

From photos and letters, to notary deeds: Picturae digitizes all kinds of flat, loose-leaf materials. We are even equipped to handle large formats such as maps, posters, and construction blueprints.

Picturae’s latest innovation for pinned insect collections, bringing conveyor belt technology to the forefront to digitization innovation again.

Herbarium

Picturae revolutionized the approach to herbarium digitization with the introduction of the conveyor belt. In our 10+ years of experience, Picturae has worked with over 60 different herbariums, imaged over 20,000,000 specimens, and contributed over 2,000 terabytes of data to the botanical community.

645,000 Specimens Digitized

Over more than two years, Picturae partnered with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin to digitize part of its insect collection, transforming hundreds of thousands of physical specimens into high-quality digital data that can be searched, analyzed, and used for research worldwide.

By combining scalable digitization workflows with specialist handling, more than 645,000 insect specimens were digitized efficiently and with care with our Entomology Conveyor.

Naturalis Biodiversity Center houses 37 million biological and geological objects, making it one of the world’s leading biodiversity research institutions.

To increase global accessibility, Picturae digitized the entire herbarium collection – 5 million specimens – using high-throughput, precision imaging systems and structured metadata workflows. The project transformed a vast physical collection into research-ready digital data, now accessible to scientists worldwide.
